Dedicated to previously-unpublished academic productions, the initiative came to being after the identification of a vast body of research about relevant themes that have found no space within the publishing market. This recently-created series gives a reader-friendly, accessible treatment to strict, in-depth theoretical works.
The series opens with a book by Ana Pato on the work of Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster – which is particularly fitting since the French artist’s output reflects on issues that relate to the management of the Videobrasil Collection. By approaching archives as a dynamic device for activating artistic propositions, the artist reiterates the live character of memory and of records of bodies of work.
The most recent release, Southern Panoramas | Readings | Perspectives For Other Geographies of Thought, features essays and art manifestos that introduce, champion or challenge the notion of a geopolitical South. Organized by Sabrina Moura, the publication launched during the 19th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil brings contributions that question Eurocentric representations and narratives.
