International Contemporary Art Festival | The leading contemporary art summit of the Southern Hemisphere, the Festival charts out art from the region, and is internationally known for its key role in establishing and maintaining an active network of artists and institutions.
Exhibitions | The institution regularly holds major exhibitions of established artists, including Isaac Julien, Joseph Beuys, Sophie Calle, the Pan-African Contemporary Art Exhibition, the Contemporary African Art Show, among others. It strives to stay in tune with highlights of worldwide production, as it builds bridges and engages in dialogue with major Southern artists.
Collection | Throughout its history, Associação has amassed the most complete video and performance collection in the Southern Hemisphere, built through a careful data collection and classification process. The ever-growing collection is a living anthology, open to renewal and to being given new meanings through artistic research and experimentation.
VB Productions | Designed to present and discuss contemporary art issues, building a network of curators, researchers, and artists who actively participate in the making of our products and publications. Our products are issued in Portuguese and English, and are available in printed publications (Cadernos Sesc_Videobrasil, VB 30 years, VB Essays, exhibition books, Festival catalogues), online (FF>>Dossier) and audiovisual productions (Videobrasil Authors Collection). Available from Sesc stores.
Artist Residencies | Through its residency program, Videobrasil gives artists and researchers opportunities to explore connections and build interaction with other artists, institutions, and communities in Brazil and other countries. The program includes scholarships and artwork commissioning, and outlines the shape of a new artistic and cultural geography.
Public Programs and Educational Actions | Aiming to promote audience qualification in contemporary art, Videobrasil’s Public Programs seek more than just to present and discuss the artists and actions it is involved in. Featuring meetings, public debates, performing exhibition tours and a collaborative online platform, the interdisciplinary activities are designed to elicit experiences and debates which will clarify and expand upon the themes and questionings raised by Videobrasil projects.
Touring Shows | With travelling shows and video screenings in Brazil and other countries, Videobrasil sets out to expand the audiences involved in its activities, while fostering the art scenes in its targeted regions.
