Visual artist and curator graduated from the University of New South Wales and the University of Western Sydney, both in Sydney. He works with installation, video, painting, performance and collages – mixing old photos with neon lights – in a practice based on his perspective as a descendant of Wiradjuri Indigenous peoples, Celts and Jews. He addresses historical amnesias and oppressions, and he points out the limitations imposed by power structures, with the intention of fostering Indigenous forms of knowledge. He served as artistic director of the 22nd Sydney Biennale, Australia (2020) and won important prizes such as that of the Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, France (2016). He had recent solo shows at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Sydney (2020); and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, Germany (2019). He took part in the biennials of Sharjah, UAE (2023); Honolulu, Hawaii (2019); Sydney (2018); among others. He lives in Sydney.
