Péricles Cavalcanti (Brazil, 1947) is a songwriter, singer and instrumentalist. His first song, “Quem Nasceu?” (Who Was Born?, 1973), was recorded by Gal Costa. In the decade of 1990 started his career as a singer, arranger and producer of his own albums: “Canções” (Songs, which was awarded the APCA Prize for Best Songwriter in 1991), “Sobre as Ondas” (Over the Waves, 1995), “Mil e Uma” (A Thousand and One, 1996) and “Baião Metafísico” (Metaphisical Baião, 2000). His songs were recorded by Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa and Arnaldo Antunes, among others.
