Actress, director and screenwriter, her feature film debut was in the French production Globe Trotte (1968). She acted in his first Brazilian film, Meu nome é lampião, by Mozael Silveira, in 1969. During the 1970s she directer and wrote several pornochanchadas (popular sex comedies). In 1979 she received the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Gramado Festival for her performance in A volta do filho pródigo (1978), by Ipojuca Pontes. Her debut in television was in the telenovela O doce mundo de Guida (1967), on TV Tupi, and reached great popularity in the telenovela O bem amado (1973). Director of several short films and medium-length films, she won the 1978 Brasília Festival with Só o amor não basta (1977). She directed the documentary Quando o crioulo dança (1988), included by the Ministry of Culture in the training of public school teachers against prejudice, in 1998.
