Artist, essayist and theoretician of cinema, Toufic is a member of the Arab Image Foundation and was a professor at the California Institute of the Arts at the University of South California, Berkeley, USA; at the Visual and Performing Arts Department of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon; and at the Department of Communication Design of Kadir Has University, Istanbul, Turkey. His installations and video works have already been exhibited in the 11th Sharjah Biennial, UAE (2013); 9th Shanghai Biennale, China (2012); 13th Documenta, Germany (2012); Six Lines of Flight, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, USA (2012); and A History: Art, Architecture, and Design, from the 1980s Until Today, Centre Pompidou, Paris, France (2014). He is the author of several publications such as What Were You Thinking? (2011); What Is the Sum of Recurrently? (2010); The Withdrawal of Tradition Past a Surpassing Disaster (2009); Undeserving Lebanon (2007); Two or Three Things I’m Dying to Tell You (2005); Forthcoming (2000); Over-Sensitivity (1996); and Distracted (1991). Toufic also co-edited special issues of the Discourse magazine.
