Holder of a bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Cinthia Marcelle works with photographs, videos, and installations, staging unlikely uses of materials, artifacts and procedures from everyday life. Marcelle’s works explore potential new arrangements of things, investing on the chaos that lurks underneath the usual order of the world. Concise in language, many of her videos feature synthetic images and fixed long shots that formalize unfamiliarity at the heart of the ordinary. She has been featured in the biennials of Sharjah (2013 and 2015), São Paulo (2010), and Havana (2006). Major solo exhibitions include Dust Never Sleeps, Secession, Vienna (2014); Zona Temporária, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro (2013); See to be Seen, PinchukArtCenter, Kiev (2011); and Zero de Conduta, Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo (2011). Cinthia Marcelle lives and works in São Paulo.
