The performance parodies the famous reality show American Idol, simulating the final of a program to select a new talent in performance. Eliav and Feldman reenact historic performances by such artists as Marina Abramovic and Ulay, and Yoko Ono. At the end of the ‘show,’ the audience and a jury made up of real art critics choose the winner. Following the example of Marina Abramovic’s Seven Easy Pieces, performed in New York in 2005, the work deals with the meaning of reenactment, discussing and articulating the memory of the performance in a good‐humored and critical way. For the artists, it is an interactive allegory for the art system, one that criticizes its similarities with the pop industry and questions the relevance of performance as an art form on the current scene.
