These two videos are part of the series ERBF – Estação Radiobase Fotográfica (2005 – 2009), whose fictional premise is the existence of a city where all there is are base transceiver stations, captured here in panoramic shots. In order to take the pictures, the artist built a pinhole camera with twenty-four holes in it. This allowed her to record one single picture from over ten different perspectives, creating motion through the differences in positioning between each of the apertures. Traversing temporal and spatial dimensions, the videos underscore the observer’s Faust-like desire to freeze the present – evidenced by the parallax phenomenon –, and discuss the expectations of modernization that technological apparatus represent.
