Society, State and institutions have always tried to establish the identity of individuals. At the end of the 19th century, A. Betillon established the ID system, on the basis of body-measurements, later improved with fingerprints, color of the eyes and photos. The illusion that personal identity exists as something definitive that can be established and “caught” was heat up by the computerization of the ID system at the end of the 20th century. The artist uses his ID cards to question the purpose of the whole system.
