Visual artist, curator and professor. GABRIELA GOLDER (Argentine, 1971) is co-director of the Moving Image Biennial (Buenos Aires). Memory and the relationship between work and identity are frequent themes in the artist’s videos and installations. She has exhibited at the Futura Centre for Contemporary Art, Prague, and the 10th Havana Biennial (2009). She has taken part in artistic residency programs in the Banff Center, CICV – Centre Internationale de Création Vidéo and the Wexner Center.
In the videoinstallation LABORATORIO DE INVENCIÓN SOCIAL (O POSIBLES FORMAS DE CONSTRUCCIÓN COLECTIVA), the artist proposes a series of actions regarding the situation of work in present times, based on the experience of workers who occupied factories and recovered them through self-management. Between two videos with statements by those workers on what made them change their working conditions, a main video shows faces, spaces and activities in the occupied factories. Using the recorded material of this experience, the artist holds meetings in which she proposes cooperative work with the audience, which may result in visual and audiovisual interventions.
