The presence of American producers Daniel Minahan and Aysha Quinn at the 6th Fotoptica Videobrasil Festival contributed to the exchange of experiences and ideas that have characterized the event since its first edition.
Aysha Quinn holds a degree in Theater from the University of Maryland and has been doing seminal work in video and performance since the 1970s. The artist’s work straddles theater, dancing, music and video. Several of her installations and performances have been featured at events such as the International Video Biennial of Vienna, Austria (1985) and Afterimage, a retrospective of 1970s feminist videos (1985).
The 6th Videobrasil Festival featured seven videos and one exhibit of photographs of her works in art/video/computing. Following the exhibit, Quinn offered to discuss her work with the Festival’s participants, in lectures and roundtables.
