Sherman Ong, who has just featured in a selection of works made in collaboration with Olafur Eliasson at London’s Tate Modern (also featuring, among others, Natasha Mendonca, from India, who was in the latest edition of Southern Panoramas, as was Ong), has been shortlisted for the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art.

The event is due in Queensland, Australia from December 2012 to April 2013, featuring 75 artists from 27 countries and including new paintings, installations, sculptures, and photographs by Australian Indian artists, artwork by young Indonesian and Vietnamese artists, and a special focus on productions from West Asia and countries such as Turkey, Iran, and Papua New Guinea. Sherman Ong’s Banjir Kemarau (Flooding in the Time of Drought) was initially commissioned for the 2008 Biennial of Singapore, the artist’s native country, and has been nominated for the Singapore Art Museum-APB Signature Art Prize.
