Rotterdam Film Festival
The International Film Festival Rotterdam is one of the largest audience and industry driven film festivals in the world. During twelve festival days, hundreds of filmmakers and other artists present their work to a large audience (2012: 274.000 admissions) and 2.700 film professionals. The festival’s Official Selection includes some 200 feature films and 300 short films out of 60 countries. The 42nd edition takes place from Wednesday 23 January till Sunday 3 February 2013.
One of the most prestigious competitive category of the festival, the Tiger Awards are chosen by jury and given to the filmmakers of the three best films from the competition. The award includes a prize money of €15.000 for each of the three winners. Only a maker's first or second film can be selected for the competition, that comprises of 15 nominated films. Brazilian curator and Videobrasil director Solange Farkas was invited to be part of the Tiger Awards jury. The filmmaker and video artist Joost Rekveld Dutch and British artist Phil Collins are the other jurors confirmed.
