Group show at Sesc Nova Iguaçu

The work of Joseph Beuys, theme of the exhibition We Are the Revolution produced by Videobrasil and shown at Sesc Pompeia (2010) and MAM-BA (2011), is once again studied in the group show Beuys, para onde nos leva?, from April 7 at SESC Nova Iguaçu. Coordinated by artists Marilou Winograd and Lúcia Avancini, the exhibition showcases works that dialogue with Beuys' production, by artists such as Alexandre Murucci, Augusto Herkenhoff, Claudia Lyrio, Lea Soibelman, Marcio Fonseca, Marco Antonio Portela, Osvaldo Carvalho, Ricardo Simões, among others.

Departing from a complex articulation of theoretical references, from christianism to anthroposophy, Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) built a referential body of work to contemporary art. Political commitment and ritualistic connotations are crucial to his work, through a wide range of strategies - performance, sculpture, installation, debates, etc.
