Artist featured in the collection of the Instituto Inhotim (in Brumadinho, MG, Brazil), Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is the next guest of the series Encontros (Encounters), sponsored by Inhotim Escola and Vale. The program begins on the 15th of August at 16h, with the artist's public lecture, followed by a special screening of films at 18:30, both at Memorial Minas Gerais - Vale, in Belo Horizonte. In the same venue will take place two sessions of films, on 16 and 23 August.
The program continues between 21 and 23 August with a workshop: Práticas artísticas no arquivo: a citação corrompida na obra de Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (Artistic practices: corrupted quoting in Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster ouvre), by Ana Duck, author of Literatura Expandida - arquivo e citação na obra de Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (Expanded Literature - file and quoting in Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s work). On 13 and 14 September, Cine Humberto Mauro – Palácio das Artes will be featuring three sessions of films by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, with free admission. The program is curated by Ana Pato and Jochen Volz, curator of Inhotim.
The project Encontros features activities surrounding the production of three contemporary artists of international significance. The debut of the program took place in June with the participation of Apichatpong Weerasethakul. After Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, the series will bring the artist Babette Mangolte.
