Guess who will be Southern Panoramas' winning artists?
In the main picture on the homepage, two artists shortlisted for the Southern Panoramas competitive show intervene and literally animate the work of a third one. Chile’s Gianfranco Foschino, participating with his video installation “Fluxus 2010,” swims in the “Piscina” (Pool) by São Paulo’s João Loureiro, in an animation by Argentina’s Federico Lamas, featuring in the show with his video installation “Censorship Universal Language Organization”.
This playful arrangement is one of the many ways in which the audience can enjoy the 84 pieces on show at the second story of the Sesc Pompeia sports complex, which are competing for cash prizes and two-month long artist residencies alongside 22 video works on show at Cine Sesc, as part of the 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. The award ceremony is open to the public and will take place this Sunday (November 10), at 8:00 pm, at the Sesc Pompeia Theater, featuring the artists and delegates from the institutions responsible for granting the residencies.
In order to discuss how artist residency experiences reverberate onto the collaborative dynamics between agents and institutions involved in at, culture, and various social spheres, Festival guests will participate in two meetings, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, at the Sesc Pompeia Warehouse, under the Focus 3 of the Public Programs – Residencies and routes to art research.” It is an opportunity for artists and the audience alike to learn more about these networks and routes for creation and exchange, which fuel cultural exchange processes and the art creation process itself. Following the second meeting, at 3:30 pm, the book "In residency" / Routes to art research in 30 years of Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil will be launched.
