Screening of the MIXTAPE: VIDEOBRASIL video and a conversation with a curator comprise the travelling show’s activation actions

MIXTAPE: VIDEOBRASIL, by Paulo Miyada, is one of the activation actions of the 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil On Tour in São Carlos. The short film will be shown on June 04 at 8:00 pm, followed by a debate with Miyada at 8:30 pm. The video is part of a semi-documental (or semi-fictional) recording of visitors’ conversations about the show, highlighting the audience’s relationship with the exhibit and the works featured in it.

As far as directing technique is concerned, the curator opted for improvisation, borrowed from theatrical games, providing the actors with nothing but theme-words, and a few pre-programmed passages; for starring the video, Miyada picked two non-actors who are regular art world attendees.

Paulo Miyada (São Paulo, Brazil, 1985) Architect and urban planner, develops practical and theoretical work on the audiovisual representations of cities. In 2008 he made the documentary tododia-feira (2008).

The 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil On Tour at Sesc São Carlos features the 10 winning works from the Southern Panoramas competitive show. The exhibit will remain open at the unit until July 20 and then will head to Sesc Campinas, where it will be held from July 29 through October 05.
