Videobrasil at the Fuso 2014
On August 31, as part of FUSO program, the Ruins of Lisbon’s Carmo Archaeological Museum are hosting a video program curated by Solange Farkas, beginning at 10pm.
Associação Cultural Videobrasil director and curator Farkas will present Narrativas da Experiência Sensível (Narratives of Sentient Experience), comprising four films by artists featured in the 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil: Bita Razavi (Iran), Daniel Jacoby (Peru), Enrique Ramírez (Chile) and Jacinto Astiazarán (Mexico).
According to the curator, these artists work on the premise of “a place of speech characterized by dissent in the ways, at times fictional and at others documental, in which they recount urban and interpersonal experiences. The artist’s sentient experiences – anchored by his cultural heritage – is the unifying thread for his acute perception of otherness.”
FUSO, an annually held video art event, is currently in its sixth edition. A departure from museum and gallery exhibits, FUSO takes place out in the open, is free of charge and occupies multiple locations throughout the Portuguese capital. In addition to artworks selected by art director Jean François Chougnet, FUSO features pieces by Portuguese artists, shortlisted from an open call, and since 2011 its schedule includes exhibits curated by Solange Farkas, building on its partnership with Associação Cultural Videobrasil.
