Gabriel Mascaro, LucFosther Diop, Ayrson Heráclito and Laura Huertas Millán will be the next artists to undertake residencies in the USA, Brazil, Senegal and Mexico after winning prizes at the 18th Festival

In 2015, four out of the eight artists awarded with artist residencies at the 18th Festival (2013) will participate in the Videobrasil Residency Program in different parts of the globe. Cameroonian LucFosther Diop will be coming to São Paulo for the FAAP Artist Residency (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado). Laura Huertas Millán, from Colombia, was assigned a residency at Videobrasil partner Arquetopia, in Puebla, Mexico.  Artist Gabriel Mascaro, from Recife, featured in the latest edition of the São Paulo Art Biennial, is heading to Columbus, USA, for a residency at the Wexner Center for the Arts. Ayrson Heráclito, from Bahia, recently featured in the Unerasable Memories – A Historic Look at the Videobrasil Collection exhibition, was chosen for a residency at Raw Material, in Dakar, Senegal.

In 2014, Ali Cherri, from Lebanon, kicked off the 18th Festival’s Residency season at the A-I-R Laboratory, in Warsaw, Poland. Next up, Brazilian Virginia de Medeiros went to New York’s Residency Unlimited. Pakistani artist Basir Mahmood stayed at  Sacatar Institute in Bahia, and Israeli artist Nurit Sharret went to Beijing’s Red Gate Residency.
