The Nigerian curator and art critic had a long-standing relationship with Videobrasil

Videobrasil feels deeply sorry for the passing of curator and art critic Bisi Silva on 12 February in Lagos, Nigeria.

Bisi, who has been a central figure of the art world, had a long-standing relationship with Videobrasil. She participated in the jury of the 17th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil in 2011, and her contribution was essential for the debates on the Global South and the African continent. As founder and director of the Centre for Contemporary Art - CCA Lagos, she strengthened personal and institutional ties by inviting Videobrasil director Solange O. Farkas to integrate the jury of the 10th Bamako Enounters, Biennale of African Photography, in Mali, of which she was the artistic director.

Her voice will be missed, but we know her legacy will be present – today and in times to come.
