Artist, researcher, and chair professor at the Buenos Aires University and the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires, holder of an M.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from the University of Paris VIII. La Ferla founded Videoespacios, one of the pioneering permanent conferences on video art. He directed the ten editions of the Muestras Euroamericanas de Cine, Video y Arte Digital and coordinated the Seminarios en Video, Cine y Multimedia Experimental, organized by the MacArthur, Rockefeller and Lampadia Foundation (Andes, Antorchas and Vitae) from 1996 to 1999. La Ferla has been curating shows of single-channel video and installation in the three continents. He was responsible for the solo exhibitions of Andrés Denegri, Gilbertto Prado and José Alejandro Restrepo, among others. Since the first Videocuadernos, in 1991, he has edited over 35 publications on cinema, video, TV, and multimedia in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, and has authored several articles on audio and visual arts in international outlets. His latest book is Cine (y) Digital: Aproximaciones a posibles convergencias entre el cinematógrafo y la computadora [Cine (and) Digital: Approaching possible convergences between cinematography and computers, 2009].
