Associação Cultural Videobrasil and Sesc São Paulo invite artists from the Global South and Portuguese-Speaking countries to participate in the selection for the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil.
In 2017, the Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil comes to its twentieth edition, reaffirming its engagement with artistic production of the Global South and with a critical view of the contemporary world, based on art.
In these unstable times, when narrative disputes grow stronger, and social-political changes become constant, art takes on renewed importance as a tool to generate and expose tensions, as well as serves as an arena for negotiation and reflection that distance us from reductionist interpretations of the world.
Registrations, open to works of any artistic language, are free and should be done online. Coherent with the Festival’s policy of fostering the participation of artists from most of the world, the open call option also answers to the desire of keeping its panoramic talent, in which emerging and consecrated artists may be found side by side. Therefore, the Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil strengthens its symbolic and strategic venue for legitimating debates promoted in the South that are now in the agenda.
