The artist will talk about her work in a debate also attended by the curator Carolina Mendonça, Videobrasil’s researcher coordinator Ruy Luduvice, and the dance critic Isabelle Danto, cultural producer at Centre Georges Pompidou, France.
VERBO 2017
Partner in the 1st Videobrasil Dance Season, Galeria Vermelho presents, from July 11 to 15, 2017, the 13th edition of the VERBO Performance Art Festival.
This year, the show showcases actions by Brazilian and foreign artists selected from 220 projects received between the months of December 2016 and March 2017. The selection of projects was carried out by Thereza Farkas, coordinator of the Videobrasil Dance Season, Carolina Mendonça, theater director and choreographer, and Marcos Gallon, VERBO’s artistic director. Mendonça and Gallon were responsible for selection the choreographer and dances Clarissa Sacchelli as a participating artist of the 1st Videobrasil Dance Season.
The partnership between Videobrasil and VERBO will feature a special program at Galpão VB, on July 15, and a selection of videos from the Videobrasil Collection to be exhibited at Vermelho. Curated by Thereza Farkas, the program consists of five works in direct connection with the pieces presented at the performance art show, and it will be shown at Vermelho’s Antonio Hall.

5 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. | Julia Viana & Luciano Favaro: Exposição rodante solo sul (South Soil Mobile Exhibition, 2017)
Exposição rodante solo sul is a mobile and temporary exhibition that addresses the concepts of territory and border based on an experience of border crossing, taking as a device the presence of artists and the automobile they rode in while crossing the South American continent. The exhibition features videos, photographs, a garden, and a library.
5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. | Clarice Lima: Coreografia (Choreography, 2016)
Coreografia is a device created to tense the involuntary choreographies that we use to move around in the spaces of galleries, museums, theaters, cultural centers, and other areas with a large flow of people.
6 p.m. - 6:10 p.m. | Jorge Lopes: O falecimento da escuta (The Death of Listening, 2017)
O Falecimento da Escuta is an action created based on movements that often appear in self-portraits. The artist interacts with soil (land), alluding to his ancestors. According to Lopes, the act of expanding and contracting his own body conveys a criticism of the nearly complete absence of black artists in today’s art field.
